Adelaide's couture prodigy, Paul Vasileff, was all set for Oscars glory last year when disaster struck.

American TV presenter Giuliana Rancic was wearing a princess-style gown from Vasileff's label, Paolo Sebastian, when its zip split on live television.

Cue even more publicity for Vasileff who launched his first collection in 2007 while just 17 years old.

The star young designer is no doubt hoping things run more smoothly at this year's Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide where he will launch his 2016 Paolo Sebastian autumn/winter collection.

The international launch is one of the highlights of the festival, now in its eighth year.

Running from October 22-25, the festival includes runway shows from Adelaide's Australian Fashion Labels (which has brands such as Finders Keepers, Keepsake, The Fifth and C/MEO Collective), Sally Phillips (renowned for her directional prints and layering) and Liza Emanuele (who has been mentored by industry icons George Gross and Harry Watt). Seven designers specialising in couture and bridal wear will also stage their own show.

International stylist Nicole Bonython-Hines, who has worked with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Kylie Minogue and Naomi Watts, will return to her home state to work on the festival. She will style the Lexi runway show featuring trans-seasonal, ready-to-wear pieces.

Away from the AFF Hindmarsh Square runway, satellite events such as A Night of Fashion at the Art Gallery will showcase Australian designers including new Adelaide label Acler.

Ready-to-wear designers will unveil their collections at a lunch where the Premier's Design Award will be presented. Hyde Park's premier shopping strip, King William Road, will host a four-course long lunch featuring the strip's latest fashions, shoes and accessories.

As part of Adelaide Fashion Festival's program launch in early August, Australian Fashion labels showed the debut collection of its latest brand, TY-LR. Head designer, Chris Kontos, was once a buyer for Adelaide's retail pioneer Miss Gladys Sym Choon and is already garnering a following by celebrities such as Rebecca Judd, Lisa Wilkinson, E! Australia host Ksenija Lukich and Kendall Jenner to name just few.
