Airline with the best Wi-Fi deal for flights out of Australia
By Michael Gebicki
Which airline offers the best Wi-Fi deal for flights out of Australia?
Aboard flights out of Australia it's Emirates. The airline offers inflight Wi-Fi on all its non-stop services between Dubai and Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as well as on some trans-Tasman flights.
Emirates also offers Wi-Fi on board most of its flights between Australia and Dubai via Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
While there are other airlines that offer similar levels of Wi-Fi internet availability on services to and from Australia – for example Singapore Airlines and Etihad – what sets Emirates apart is its big-hearted approach.
The first 10MB of data is free. If passengers need more, they can sign up for another 500MB of data at a pared-down price of just $US1.
Philippine Airlines, JAL, Garuda and United also offer Wi-Fi on most of their flights to and from Australia.
These airlines typically charge between $US20-40 for Wi-Fi access for an entire flight, although Garuda uses volume-based rather than time-based pricing, which is potentially more expensive.
Qantas, Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific are among the carriers that do not offer Wi-Fi on flights to and from Australia.
