CROATIAN CRUISING

Australian tour operator APT is setting sail along the Adriatic Coast in new yacht-style vessel Queen Eleganza in 2019. With only 18 passenger cabins, Queen Eleganza is purpose-built for the Adriatic coast's tight coves and isolated islands, allowing exploration of smaller destinations that larger ships can't access. With only 36 guests on board, the cruise promises a relaxed, resort-style atmosphere. Guests can lounge on sundecks and swim off the back of the ship, while day-time sailing ensures they can admire the passing coastline and spend evenings in Croatian small ports.

THROUGH THE LENS

Silversea has introduced its new "My Photo Academy" to sailings in Antarctica on Silver Cloud, using the ship's new Photo Studio for a photography-oriented enrichment program. Guests can enhance their photographic prowess by learning how to take and edit pictures like a professional while sailing on itineraries that maximise expedition time and provide opportunities for capturing images. Guests can also learn about digital photography in private and group lessons and through specialty workshops for both beginners and professionals. Topics including the use of social media and Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop software.

GO GALAPAGOS

Celebrity Cruises has announced it will be launching new ship Celebrity Flora, designed expressly for the Galapagos Islands, on May 26, 2019. The 100-passenger ship will have anchorless technology to maintain its position while protecting the sea floor, while innovative outward-facing design will give guests 360-degree views of the islands. The company says an open-air stargazing platform, personal suite attendants, new dining venues, and expert-lead ecological seminars will also feature. A marina will accommodate up to three Zodiac boats at the same time, reducing transport delays to and from land during shore excursions.
