Australia ski season 2016 photos: 40cm of snow falls on resorts

Ski resorts are celebrating the arrival of fresh snow on the slopes as a strong cold front moves across the state.

Snow continues to fall across the Alpine region after a 40cm dumping of snow at Thredbo Resort and 35cm at Perisher Resort on Thursday night. The cold snap also brought snow to Victoria.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted heavy rain and possibly snow for the Central Tablelands area on Friday, which could close major roads heading west including the Great Western Highway.
