Best Job could still be anyone's

Everyone's asking the same question.

Is there a hot favourite for The Best Job in the World?

The simple answer is no.

The winner of the Tourism Queensland promotion will be announced this afternoon, from a field of 16 finalists.

Tourism Queensland was going to cut the final number down to 10 - but couldn't.

The finalists have spent the past few days cruising the islands of the Great Barrier Reef and one thing's very clear.

Any of them could do the job - and do it well.

After all, they're all that's left from around 35,000 applicants from around the globe.

They all have different stories, from Juweon Kim, a serious young political commentator from Korea who has a wicked sense of humour and an outrageously boisterous personality, to Mieko Kobayashi, a quiet but very funny young woman from Japan who has a background in TV production but currently works as a receptionist.

There are two Aussies in the mix - James Hill from the Whitsundays and the youngest in the group, 20-year-old Hailey Turner from Brisbane.

The fact that they're home grown doesn't mean they've gone in with a head start.

The selection panel haven't been giving interviews to the media, but one of them made it clear on Tuesday afternoon their decision could be influenced by the candidates right up to the last minute.

It might be The Best Job in The World - but the decision will be one of the hardest.
