Boggabilla, New South Wales: Travel guide and things to do

Boggabilla is a small town of some 750 people on the Newell Highway, 118 km north-east of Moree, 9 km south-east of Goondiwindi and 744 km north of Sydney. It sits on the NSW-Queensland border, by the banks of the Macintyre River.

Boggabilla has little to detain the passer-by, although there is a motel, a caravan park and the Wobbly Boot Hotel. The latter attained some notoriety when it became the title and theme of a popular country song by Stan Coster.

Things to see

Boobera Lagoon
23 km west of town is the Boobera Lagoon which has been a popular swimming, picnicking, sailing, boating and waterskiing spot. However, it is considered a site of great significance by the area's indigenous inhabitants who are therefore trying to alter its free public access status.
