Everything old is new again at AYANA Bali, where a new beach club evokes a more rustic time.

Styled to recreated a 1960s Kuta beach club and accessible only via AYANA's 90-hectare estate, the Kubu Beach Club is family friendly and open to all in-house guests of AYANA Resort and Spa BALI, RIMBA Jimbaran BALI by AYANA and The Villas at AYANA.

It features Balinese architecture with elements of shell, wood, bamboo, stone and traditional leaf rooftops. The wooden bar is adorned with vintage memorabilia with walls dripping in dried-corn, coconut baskets and sea shells.

From the beachside cabanas and sun loungers, guests can remember old Kuta by getting their hair braided or indulging in a temporary tattoo.

To accompany the traditional design, the kitchen serves up an simple international dishes and local comfort food, such as snapper ceviche or a charcoal bun cheese burger, as well as local favourites such as rujak gula – seasonal fruits marinated with palm sugar and tamarind, and bakso balung – an oxtail beef meatball soup.

And of course, there's a ready supply of ice-cold beers, fresh coconut water and vintage tiki cocktails.

And when it's time for a dip, you can swap the 197-step walk back from the beach for a quick 35-second ride up and down AYANA's inclinator.
