GLAMPING AT SEA

Celebrity Cruises has introduced a rooftop glamping experience on the top deck of its luxury yacht in the Galapagos Islands. Making its debut in May 2019, the 100-guest all-suite Celebrity Flora will offer guests the opportunity to dine, drink and sleep under one of the most spectacular night skies in the world. The experience includes a sleeping and dining cabana, campfire-inspired cuisine, cocktails and wine, plus a full bed-side breakfast at sunrise. A naturalist will highlight stars and constellations. Celebrity Flora sails alternating 10- and 11-night inner- and outer-loop itineraries in the Galapagos.

D-DAY ANNIVERSARY

Viking has announced a new river cruise itinerary for 2019 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings. The 12-day "Paris and D-Day 75th Anniversary" cruise from London to Normandy is based on Viking's popular Seine River itinerary, with the addition of special D-Day-related shore excursions and a four-night stay in London with visits to significant British World War II sites such as Bletchley Park, the Churchill War Rooms and the Imperial War Museum. The cruise has two departure dates, on May 29 and 31, 2019, and includes excursions to the Normandy Beaches.

FEAST OF THEMES

Star Clippers is offering 10 themed cruises on its three tall ships in 2019 in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and south-east Asia. These include cruises with a celebrity fitness instructor, famous fashion stylist, and author in Mediterranean history and archaeology. There will also be five yoga cruises, with early-morning and sunset yoga sessions on deck. And in September 2019, Neapolitan chef Armando Bisceglia joins Royal Clipper's round-trip cruise from Rome for a special focus on Italian cuisine when the ship drops anchor at Ponza, Palmarola, along the Amalfi coast, and in Sicily and the Aeolian Islands.

REMOTE ARCTIC

Silversea has just celebrated its 10th year of expedition cruising, and in its 2019 season continues to offer cruises to remote Arctic regions, with nine itineraries aboard Silver Cloud and Silver Explorer. Among the highlights is rarely-visited Jan Mayen island on a June 2019 voyage between Reykjavik and Tromso, and isolated Bear Island in the Svalbard archipelago, home to some of the northern hemisphere's largest bird colonies and visited on two voyages in July. The season also sees Silversea's first crossing of the Northeast Passage on a cruise between Nome and Tromso, departing on August 10, 2019.
