Standing, lying and looking far down below, tourists are flocking to a new glass-bottom sightseeing platform on the highest peak of China's Shilin Gorge on the outskirts of Beijing.

Billed by its makers as the largest glass sightseeing platform in the world, it consists of a walkway and a circular viewing platform. It has an area of 415 square metres and hangs some 400 metres up from the foot of the cliff.

Titanium alloys reinforce the framework of the structure, which extends 32.8m out to look onto the lush forest gorge below. Those venturing out to take selfies put on cloth coverings on their shoes.
