Already a symbol of modern opulence, Dubai's famed Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel will soon be home to the emirate's most exclusive guest experience.

The sail-shaped hotel, which sits on an artificial island and gives itself 'seven stars', is adding a brand-new outdoor space that will fan out 100 metres into the ocean.

The North Deck will occupy 10,000 square metres and stretch 100 metres out into the Arabian Gulf offering guests stunning city and ocean views. The deck will feature a 612-square-metre fresh water pool and a 828-square-metre salt water pool, with 32 cabanas and 400 sun loungers, and a restaurant and bar.

For a hotel that's fit for a sheikh (it has its own chauffeur-driven fleet of Rolls-Royce and interiors are embellished with 24-karat gold), the new north-facing addition is likely to deliver on luxury and decadence.

The 5000-tonne deck is being constructed off-site in Finland's Rauma shipyard by ADMARES, a marine construction company. Developed in six sections, the deck is being transported to Dubai by sea and is set to arrive in mid-February. The deck's construction and installation will require land to be reclaimed from the ocean.

While the new deck offers hotel guests a 'private luxury' experience, its eco-friendly-design will see the inclusion of an artificial reef and provide shade for marine life.

Burj Al Arab Jumeirah's new North Deck is set to officially open to guests at the second quarter of 2016.

The suite-only hotel will also open a new bar on the 27th floor, adjacent to the famous Skyview Bar, at the end of quarter one 2016. The new bar will offer floor-to-ceiling views of the city and the Arabian Gulf. (See: Dubai's best sky-high bars)

Late last year, the Burj Al Arab opened its doors to Google Street View allowing prospective guests to explore the building, including its Royal Suite and helipad.
