THE TRAVELLER

Joel Creasey, comedian, host of Eurovision on SBS TV, of the TV show Take Me Out and a team captain on Show Me The Movie, as well as compering the broadcast of the Mardi Gras.

NUMBER OF COUNTRIES VISITED

No idea! Lots! I've been very fortunate.

ANY PASSPORT MISHAPS?

Oh, every time I travel. My boyfriend now carries it for me if I'm travelling with him as he is much more responsible. Also, he owns a bumbag, which on him looks cool. On me it looks like I'm in kindergarten.

I GOT MY FIRST PASSPORT WHEN I WAS was one-year-old because we went to a wedding in Germany. I obviously don't remember anything ...

MY PASSPORT PHOTO IS actually not too bad. Much better than my driver's licence picture.

I CAN'T STOP GOING BACK TO Byron Bay, London and New York. I'm totally basic like that.

MY LAST TRAVEL DESTINATION WAS the Gold Coast. [It] was my last tour stop. I'm on tour at the moment so I'm constantly travelling. There are some great restaurants on the Goldie; not enough people talk about that.

MY NEXT TRAVEL DESTINATION IS Tel Aviv to host Eurovision for SBS. I'm very excited. I've always wanted to go.

I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO seeing just how camp it is, after being told that Tel Aviv is the new gay capital of the world.

WHAT I REALLY WANT FROM MY NEXT TRIP IS hopefully a light stomach bug that sees me drop a dress size. Also, lots of irritating travel photos to humble brag with on Instagram. And maybe some new friends.

I LOVE TO TRAVEL BECAUSE I can forget about things like "responsibilities" and bills for two seconds.

MY TRAVEL PHILOSOPHY IS, when in doubt, order a rosé.

THE ONE TRAVEL MISTAKE I ALWAYS MAKE IS drinking too much rosé.

THE ONE THING I REALLY DO GET RIGHT WHEN I TRAVEL IS having fun. I love to have fun and I'm pretty easily persuaded. So I often find myself in strange, wild and wonderful situations that give me great fodder for my stand-up act.

IF I HAD TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE SEAT THE OTHER PASSENGERS I'D WANT ON EITHER SIDE OF ME WOULD BE [Australian pop duo twins] the Veronicas because they are VERY SMALL and won't take up too much space.

THE ONE FAMOUS TRAVELLER I REALLY ADMIRE IS [American aviation pioneer] Amelia Earhart. What a legend.

THE ONE FAMOUS PERSON I'D LIKE TO TRAVEL WITH IS any of the Real Housewives. They always seem to be drinking champagne in first class somewhere.

AIRLINE FOOD IS ... I fly with Qantas and they have just opened a new spice bar in their Melbourne lounge so I actually quite love it.

AIRPORT SECURITY IS totally fine. And necessary. Anybody who complains about airport security is a dummy.

HOTELS ARE hit and miss. I stay with The Star when I'm travelling in Australia so they're lovely. But, my gosh, I've had some rough hotels overseas. I was in a two-star hotel in Auckland recently and I had to question how they even got two stars.

I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO Italy. But I'm going after Eurovision and I am so excited.

I'VE NEVER WANTED TO GO TO Guangzhou. Simply because I'm still not entirely sure how to pronounce it.

Window. Always.
