Famous Flyer: Matt Moran

Trust Matt Moran to know where to find the best breakfast in Paris.

WHICH WAS YOUR BEST HOLIDAY?

Croatia last July, where I travelled to several islands, including Hvar, Brac, Korcula and Vis on a 100-foot cruiser with my best mate. I didn't realise how outstanding Croatian food was because no one really talks about it. I especially loved the fresh seafood and their lamb peka - a style of Croatian cooking where a domed clay or metal pot is put in a stone oven and covered with hot coals so the meal's cooked slowly in its own juices.

AND THE BEST HOTEL YOU'VE STAYED IN?

The Plaza Athenee in Paris, where I've stayed a few times. My daughter Amelia was born on Bastille Day so we stayed there for her first birthday and I also took her back for her eighth birthday this year. I love the olde worlde style with the courtyard covered in beautiful vines and the chef, Alain Ducasse, does the best brekkie in the world.

WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS TAKE WITH YOU?

My noise-cancelling headphones, good music and my GoPro. I used the GoPro on a recent Indian trip to film the markets and it was fantastic.

WHAT'S YOUR BEST PIECE OF TRAVEL ADVICE?

Don't forget your phone charger and make sure you check what adaptor you need overseas so you don't take the wrong one, which I always do.

YOUR WORST EXPERIENCE ON HOLIDAY?

My family and I were on holiday with another family in St Tropez in 2006 and they lost their little one at the beach after we'd all had a few too many glasses of rose. We were all in a panic for the awful five minutes before we found her.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO NEXT?

I loved my trip to Mumbai and Goa earlier this year so much that I've just booked a week-long getaway to northern India in February. I'll be checking out the Amanbagh resort in Jaipur and the Aman-I-Khas resort on the fringes of Ranthambore National Park where I'm hoping to spot a tiger. I also want to head to Turkey and Israel in July as I'm fascinated by the food there.
