The 'bleisure' market is in the sights of the new Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park, which opened on Wednesday.

Blending leisure and business is a key travel trend, and the four-star, business-oriented hotel says that its location on Broadway, in Sydney's inner-city suburb of Chippendale, will appeal to those seeking a city stay at affordable rates.

Four Points is one of the 30 brands owned by the hotel behemoth Marriott, which already has five five-star properties in Sydney including the Westin, the Sydney Harbour Marriott at Circular Quay and Pier One.

Speaking to Traveller.com.au, Sean Hunt, Vice-President, Marriott International Asia Pacific, says that overflow from its five-star hotels, as well as bookings from its massive loyalty program, will see plenty of demand for the economically priced Four Points.

This is Marriott's 30th property in the Asia Pacific region, with 22 more hotels in the pipeline including another Four Points in Parramatta and a W hotel at Darling Harbour, both to open in 2020. Hunt says the company aims to open up to seven hotels each year in the coming years.

Set on Broadway, Central Park hotel has 297 rooms including 45 suites, with onsite parking, though it's minutes from Central Station's buses, trains and light rail, all connecting to Sydney Airport.

Walk off the street into Malt Bar, which serves local wines and craft beers, as well as the omnipresent tapas, while its all-day Central Quarter restaurant does the breakfast shift, as well as lunch and dinner. Hunt says the hotel will lure corporates and millennials as an IT savvy stay, with high-speed wifi as well as value for money and "uncomplicated service". Plans are afoot for check-in and check-out via its smartphone app.

Billing itself as an 'urban village' in the Central Park mixed-use development, the hotel's neighbours are restaurants and a shopping mall which lure foot traffic, "invigorating what was a pretty tired area," says Hunt.

This is the fifth Four Points hotel to open in the region: Melbourne's Docklands opened mid last year and the sixth will open in Fiji in 2020.

Rooms in Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park cost from $248. See www.fourpoints.com/sydneycentralpark
