HOTEL
Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything from the service to the exquisite decor in the rooms was perfection. Being a textile designer, I loved all the silk fabrics and the attention to detail. Getting back your laundry is like opening a beautifully wrapped present.
AIRLINE
Any airline that lets me on with 15 kilograms of hand luggage gets the thumbs up in my book, especially when travelling "cattle class". On one trip to the US, we discovered Williams Sonoma and just had to have the French Bistro plates and bouillabaisse bowls. Of course, I got eight of each. Thanks Qantas! Singapore Airlines, hands down has the best economy in-flight service.
One of my worst experiences was in Rome trying to board through a mob of angry Spaniards with 10 pieces of carry-on luggage. And never again Ryanair - it's like a bus.
RESORT
Twin Palms Resort in Phuket is where I celebrated my 40th birthday. Guests were dressed in white and we had a gourmet buffet on the beach complete with fireworks. The weather was perfect and all my close friends and family were there.
LUGGAGE
I use a Samsonite Cosmolite, which has four wheels, is light and has loads of space inside. I also love my Ginger Bag from Thailand, which is great for carry on, overnight trips and extra last-minute purchases. It's bright purple and says "Listen to Me". I carried a small rug in there from Kathmandu.
NEXT ADVENTURE
I'm off to British Columbia, Canada this year to have a white Christmas skiing holiday with my husband's family.
