Adventurous travellers looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience will be able to book a night in a purpose-built, pop-up floating hotel room in Sydney's harbour valued (or, at least, self-valued) at $36,000.

The pop-up hotel room, dubbed 'The Spontaneity Suite', is a joint venture between HotelTonight, a hotel booking app which was launched in Australia in August, and Ovolo Hotels, who are fully servicing the suite.

The suite is made up of two shipping containers and will be Sydney's first floating hotel, accessible only by boat.

As well as offering a rooftop terrace and jacuzzi from which to drink in spectacular views of the harbour, the five-star suite will be equipped with mod cons, including AppleTV and Netflix.

The price includes return boat transfers to the suite, all-inclusive meals and a minibar, with room service delivered by boat daily and the services of a personal mobile concierge.

HotelTonight Regional Director for Asia Pacific, Stefan Cordiner, said the brand came up with the idea of creating a roaming boutique-style suite to "satisfy Australians' sense of adventure for exploring their own backyard".

"The aim was to offer an intrepid yet comfortable experience to create the perfect night of escapism. We're on a quest to make travelling more fun so thought it was fitting to deliver this unique luxury accommodation".

Travellers will be able to book a one night stay for $99 on Saturday 14 or Sunday 15 November. They will have to use the HotelTonight app to book the suite between 12 and 2 pm on the day of the stay.

All money raised from the bookings will be donated to food rescue charity OzHarvest.

The suite will then move on to other locations around Australia.

'The Spontaneity Suite' made its debut in Victoria's Yarra Valley in August, from where guests enjoyed sweeping panoramas of the surrounding vineyards.
