Iluka Apartments, Palm Beach accommodation review: Weekend away

The Location

Iluka Apartments back on to Snapperman Beach at Pittwater and are a three-minute drive from Palm Beach, for those who prefer their beaches with waves. It's located right in the middle of Pittwater shopping village, where you can get all your essentials.

The Place

These one- or two-bedroom apartments are handsomely styled in that de-cluttered modern manner and come with their own kitchen, eating area and courtyard. If it is vistas you're after, ask for the upstairs room - it has a great view of Pittwater. The bathrooms are lovely, with a nice big spa bath, and there's also a small heated pool downstairs.

The Experience

You want to get out and about. Snapperman Beach is a stone's throw away; Palm Beach is also close by. Have a long lunch at Barrenjoey House, a short walk from the apartments, before taking a ferry for a sunset stickybeak at The Basin, on the opposite side of Pittwater. Retail therapy is in super-abundance here: there's plenty of cute homewares shops at Pittwater, but for clothes drive south five minutes to Avalon. For lunch, don't forget the spicy fish tacos at Cranky Fins, near Palm Beach Golf Club.

Start with a big breakfast at The Boathouse (set right over the water at Pittwater), then amble over the spit to the northern end of Palm Beach, where you can take the short walk up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse.
