Keanu Reeves' latest heroic endeavour just happened off the big screen.

The "John Wick" actor, 54, was on a United flight Saturday from San Francisco to Los Angeles when the plane made an emergency landing in Bakersfield, California, a nearly two-hour drive from the Burbank Airport. And according to videos captured by fans, he took the lead in helping the rest of the flight's passengers get to their destination quickly.

The flight diverted due to a "mechanical indication" and landed "safely without incident," according to Freddy Lemmo, a representative for SkyWest, an airline that frequently operates on behalf of other airlines, in this case United Express.

In an Instagram story by Brian Rea that has since expired but was captured by multiple other social-media users, Reeves is shown calmly speaking to an airline representative and leading a discussion with a group of passengers about the most efficient way to get to Burbank quickly.

"The people who can unload the bags won't be here for three hours. The vans will be here in an hour," he says, before explaining that it would be much easier to leave and worry about luggage later.

Further videos show Reeves sitting with fellow passengers in a van, reading them fun facts about Burbank, playing the 1960s country song "It's Such a Pretty World Today," and finally walking into a Carl's Jr.

"It's been a long day for all of us," the final caption read.

Amid the commotion, Reeves also stopped to snap photos with a few fans.

"That time when your flight... almost crashes and you have to emergency land in a remote airport but at least Keanu Reeves is having as bad a day as you are," tweeted Amir Blum. "I mean, near death experience followed by fans annoying you for pictures. Doesn't get much worse."

"No joke," another fan captioned a photo of the two together.
