If Australian travellers needed a reason to renew their Qantas Club membership, the airline's new lounge at Singapore's Changi airport might just be it.
Gone are the separate first- and business-class lounges, and in their place is a chic, light-filled space designed with frequent travellers in mind.
There's seating for 460 passengers, in several distinct zones, with enough power sockets and USBs to keep everyone happy.
Platinum frequent flyers have a reserved space and receive an experience that includes shirt pressing, shoe shine and extra-nice toiletries in the showers.
A proper dining area is a big innovation, with a bar counter and tables; there's also a small zone for kids.
Staff roam the floor offering trays of bitter aperol cocktails with passionfruit and a kick; there's also a full bar with premium Australian wines.
The best thing, however, is the food. Neil Perry brings a touch of his Rockpool philosophy and the essence of Spice Temple to Singapore with dishes such as crisp-skinned grilled salmon with cucumber and mint salsa, and braised chicken and black vinegar stir-fry with soft tofu and chilli.
It's classy food, cooked to order and matched with wine.
But if you're in a rush (or extra hungry) there's also a great buffet offering salads and hot dishes (think caramelised pork and steamed bok choy) and crowd-pleasing desserts. See qantas.com.
