The location Wyong is at the northern end of the Central Coast but is still an easy drive from Sydney through the dramatic rock cuts of the F3. Pretty waterways and lakes, old wooden holiday homes and gigantic retirement palaces populate this stretch of the coast.

The place Kooindah Waters is a mix of newly built permanent homes and short-stay apartments built around a commanding resort. The apartments are modern and spacious, and the best ones look out over the main attraction, the golf course. Set over small, undulating hills and marshy ponds, the course is punctuated by pretty native trees and is home to abundant bird life. There is also a fine restaurant, day spa, pools and play equipment to keep your little ones happy.

The experience Kids and adults keep busy putting and swinging from morning until dusk. In the late afternoon the golf course provides other pleasures, too, as the pipers, ibis and other water birds come to life against the sunset, providing a spectacular show. It's worth paying a little extra for a Golf View room so you can enjoy the fairways from your balcony; a view of the car park is not what you want. The short but impressive wine list in the restaurant is a plus for weary adults.

Don't miss If you feel like breaking out of the manicured resort, the nature reserves along Tuggerah Lake or the beaches that stretch the length of The Entrance, including Shelly Beach, are only a short drive away.
