This unusual flight path was created after a newlywed couple, both of whom work for Air Malta, took to the skies to celebrate.
The pair were married in a ceremony at the island's international airport before they flew above the Mediterranean to trace a heart shape around the island.
The couple – a pilot and his wife, a member of cabin crew – then drew a second heart before coming back in to land.
An image of the flight path was published on flightradar24.com, much to the initial confusion of plane spotters following the account on Twitter.
"So, apparently, two Air Malta staff got married and a real plane 'drew' this. Rather lovely" wrote SimonNRicketts (@SimonNRicketts) on April 14, 2015 on Twitter.
The mystery was solved on the airport's arrivals board however, which noted that the Air Malta flight KM 14JC was "JUST MARRIED". Watch a video that shows the plane's flight path here.
The hearts got an overwhelmingly positive reaction on Twitter.
