Can't afford to escape economy class? Air passengers can now take a virtual walk down the aisle of an Aer Lingus business class cabin thanks to Google Maps.

Google Street View users can enjoy 360-degree views of the inside of the Irish airline's new Boeing 757 cabins, perhaps too allowing them to examine the seat they might like to book before parting with their cash.

Prospective passengers may first wander on the tarmac of Dublin Airport outside the aircraft, before walking up the stairs into the plane for a closer look at the airline's new business class cabin, whose features include 14-inch television screens, 22-inch-wide seats and fully-flat 6.5ft-long beds. Online users can also get a closer view of the airline's airport lounge.

The inaugural flight of the newly-fitted 757 was made in February from Shannon to Boston, while four more aircraft will be fitted with the new business class cabins by mid-May.

It's not the first time Google's Street View camera have hopped on board an aircraft. They did the same last year for the launch of British Airways' business-only flight to New York.

Users can board a 32-seater jet at London City Airport as well as take a virtual tour of the small private lounge provided for BA's business-class customers, then wander through to duty free and the check-in desks.

Back in 2013, more than 2,000 images were taken inside Gatwick Airport's North and South terminals, making the project the largest indoor implementation of Google Street View anywhere in Europe at the time.

Since the 2007 launch of Street View, Google's cameras have driven more than seven million miles, visited seven continents and more than 65 countries, including Nepal, the Galapagos Islands, Antarctica and the Arctic, and various attractions including the Grand Canyon.

Some of Google's latest Street View launches around the world have been in Petra in Jordan, the company's fifth Street View project in an Arab nation, the Amazon rainforest, as well as the Danube.

The Northern Lights were recently added as a themed category to Google Views, the search engine's location-linked image sharing platform, which allows internet users to upload and share images and panoramas of interesting locations around the globe.
