A substantial city located on Boston Bay (a bay which is more than three and a half times the size of Sydney Harbour) and nestled in on the easterly side of the Eyre Peninsula over the years it has become the most important grain and fishing port in the region. As a result it has become the informal capital of the whole peninsula.
