It's home to arguably the best restaurant in Brisbane, and now it has the digs to go with it.

Rydges South Bank Brisbane has finished its $30 million upgrade.

With award-winning Bacchus Restaurant South Bank downstairs now home to chef Massimo Speroni, formerly of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant San Domenico in Imola, Italy, upstairs is star-worthy, too.

A total of 304 rooms were redone at a cost of $15 million. They have been furnished in peaceful greys and natural woods with pops of tobacco and purple in carpets and velvet chairs adding the luxe and design factor to this arts district property. The aim was timelessness with points of interest, liveability and above all, comfort, with particular emphasis on the quality of bedding, linen and lounging elements.

The hotel now has a boast-worthy 64 junior, king and deluxe king suites which have walk-out private balconies with panoramic views of the Brisbane city skyline and Wheel of Brisbane, or Mount Coot-tha and the village of West End.

Technical specs were a huge feature of the redo: all rooms have 48-inch or 55-inch LED TVs with Apple TV, and are plugged in to an Orion Energy Management System as well as technology allowing guests to use content on their own devices.

Designed, planned and executed by the multi-award winning KannFinch – responsible for stellar projects across Australia, Asia and the Middle East – the whole overhaul has also created the hotel's chic Soleil Pool Bar, popular with the young city cocktail set, and street level CBD, for coffee.

Junior suite from $250 a night. See rydges.com
