Seven dishes you must try in Bangkok: Chef Renu Homsombatat
SPAGHETTI CARBONARA, VANILLA CAFE
Here, they create the dish like no other. The creamy sauce together with long, sticky spaghetti makes such a good combination. And finally top the dish off with egg yolk, crispy bacon flakes and extra parmesan cheese.
KIMCHI SOUP, DOORAE AT KOREA TOWN
Kimchi soup at Doorae in Korea Town is my favourite. The soup is very authentic, just like the one we find in Korea. Not only it is authentic but the kimchi in the soup has a very unique taste. It consists of soft white tofu and pork belly, which melts in your mouth. Doorae also has many more mouth watering dishes that are worth a try but I highly recommend my favourite.
SPICY TUNA SALAD, OH KA JHU
If you ever get to visit this place, do not miss the Spicy Tuna Salad. Since they grow their own vegetables hydroponically, you can be rest assured that they serve only freshness and crunchiness. Fresh vegetables, chunky pieces of tuna, almond flakes and spicy salad dressing make it a great combo.
BRULEE LATTE WITH LEMON TART, FILL IN THE BLANK
If you visit Bangkok and feel like having a nice cup of coffee, I would highly recommend this place in Sukhumvit. They have this special coffee called brulee latte which is my top-of-the-list drink here. Also, you've got to have the drink with their lemon tart. Perfect café for sweet tooths. (28/10 Sukhumvit 61 Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok)
MASSAMAN SPRING ROLL, SAFFRON SKY GARDEN
We serve the massaman spring roll as a snack here. It is an excellent pairing with red wine or a nice cocktail. I just love the taste of massaman paste and a hint of spice in a crispy deep fried roll. Lovely having it by itself or dipped in a sweet chilli sauce.

SALMON SALAD, SAFFRON
A must try. It is a very refreshing and delightful unification of Tasmanian salmon, fresh hairy basil, juicy pomelo, thin slices of crispy pork crackling and topped off with a spicy citrus dressing.
HANGLAY CURRY, HOM DUAN
The hanglay at Hom Duan is by far my favourite. It is very aromatic and has the taste of real Northern Thai curry. No matter how many times I pay a visit to this restaurant, I'll always order the dish. I can't resist the way the Northern Thai chilli paste combines with pork belly. (Hom Duan, Ekkamai Soi 2, Bangkok)
Renu Homsombatat has been with Banyan Tree since 2003. Originally learning to cook from her mother who runs a small restaurant in her home town, she now hosts events at the many Banyan Tree hotels and resorts, with the Saffron name on 10 Banyan Tree restaurants in seven countries.
