RECONSIDER RUSSIA

If the recent FIFA World Cup has you intrigued with Russia then Scenic still has 2019 departures available on its river cruises from St Petersburg to Moscow on the 112-passenger Scenic Tsar. Its 15-day 'Jewels of Russia' cruise along the Volga-Baltic waterways takes in highlights of the two cities, such as the Kremlin, Red Square and a Russian circus in Moscow; and Catherine Palace and the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. It also visits highlights in between such as Kizhi Island for World Heritage-listed wooden churches, and trading towns Yaroslavl and Uglich.

THE GREAT RACE

Australian expedition cruise company Coral Expeditions has announced yachtsman Tony Carpenter will be joining passengers as the guest lecturer and historian for this year's Sydney-to-Hobart themed expedition in December 2018. Coral Discoverer will chase the race on a six-night cruise narrated by the yachtsman, who has experienced all the drama of the famous yachting race 12 times. Passengers on 'A Yachtsman's Cruise' will watch the spectacle of the fleet sailing through Sydney heads from the ship's sundeck, and arrive in Hobart for celebrations on New Year's Eve for fireworks over the Derwent River.
