Sweden lists entire country on Airbnb, the best spots for tourists and travelers

While New Zealand considers taxing tourists on the Great Walks, national parks and even Hamilton Gardens, Sweden is opening its doors, mountains and lakes to everyone. All you have to pay is respect.

That's the message coming from the country's tourism board who has teamed up with Airbnb for a marketing campaign that has captured the world's attention.

People searching for places to stay in the Scandinavian nation will come across beaches, mountains and forests that are free for tourists to visit and roam.

"The only thing you have to pay is respect for nature and the animals living there," the "Roam Free" campaign, launched on May 22, says.

While Sweden doesn't have any Eiffel Towers, Big Bens or Niagara Falls, every lake can be an infinity pool, "every mountaintop your granite terrace, and every forest a pantry filled with mushrooms and berries".

Sweden's tourism agency says they are welcoming everyone to the country to share their "wonderful nature".

"This is made possible thanks to a Swedish right guaranteed by the constitution - freedom to roam. This right enables the Swedish people to experience nature and enjoy the beautiful Swedish wildlife," Jenny Kaiser, president of Visit Sweden,

"In Sweden we have everything from high mountains to deep forests, from beautiful archipelagos to quiet meadows."
