After a couple of embattled profit years, things are looking more sparkly for Hong Kong's national carrier. So it's fitting that as its three-year transformation begins to show great financial promise, Cathay Pacific has unveiled The Deck, the airline's newest lounge at Hong Kong International Airport.

Located close to gate 16 in Terminal 1 and designed in the signature style of Cathay Pacific's award-winning lounges in Hong Kong and across its network, The Deck, is designed to be a "contemporary living room" environment of understated luxury.

The Deck, is in fact, reflective of the attitude Cathay has taken to revitalisation – one of customer-first.

"Investing in experiences that our customers value and consider important is at the heart of our product and service philosophy, and helps us differentiate ourselves from any other airline," says Cathay Pacific chief customer and commercial officer Paul Loo.

Dining is a large feature of The Deck, with the Main Lounge providing a range of self-service, freshly made international offerings, including Cathay's signature The Noodle Bar that serves Hong Kong classics, including wonton noodles in a broth, fish ball noodles and a variety of dim sum and buns.

At 823 square metres, The Deck has seating for 180 passengers in a space featuring natural materials, plenty of greenery and works by local artists.

There's a relaxation room zone and eight shower suites as well as plenty of nooks for privacy and work.

Cathay Pacific's other lounges at HKIA are The Bridge, The Pier Business and First Class lounges, The Wing Business and First Class lounges and The Arrival. The Cabin will close on April 30. See cathaypacific.com
