Staying five nights in Palm Cove in june with a 12-year-old, which island would be the most fun and relaxing to visit? D. Jay, Seaforth

There's not a huge choice of islands that are easily accessible along this part of the Queensland coast but Green Island is probably going to be your best bet.

Just a 45-minute trip from Cairns aboard the fast catamarans, several Cairns-based tour operators allow you to spend anything from a couple of hours to a full day on the island.

Green Island is a coral cay with snorkelling and trips aboard a glass-bottom boat or a semi-submersible for viewing the marine life.

The island also has a resort where you can take advantage of various dining options.

If you take a tour with Great Adventures https://greatadventures.com.au [greatadventures.com.au] you also get to use the island's swimming pool.
