PAPUAN ADVENTURE

APT has announced a new and one-off PNG expedition cruise in October 2019. The 13-day 'Papua New Guinea by Small Ship' itinerary starts with a flight from Cairns to Rabaul and a cruise onwards to Port Moresby on the company's 95-passenger Caledonian Sky. Adventures include a Zodiac excursion to Duke of York Island and the site where Australia's HMAS AE1 submarine lies on the ocean floor; a swim amongst tropical fish at Garove Island; and encounters with red-footed boobies on Alim Island. The cruise also visits the Sepik River and a section of the Kokoda Track.

SEE THE WORLD

Ecruising has a cruise-tour in May 2019 that includes not one but two classic French Riviera events, the high-octane Monaco Grand Prix and the iconic Cannes Film Festival. Guests stop over in Dubai and spend two nights in Barcelona before boarding Azamara Journey for a sail around five Mediterranean countries, with stops including Marseille, St Tropez, Monaco and Santa Margherita near Portofino on the Italian Riviera. The journey also visits Civitavecchia (Rome), Sorrento, Elba, Cannes and Calvi before finishing with a return to Monaco.

Star Clippers has launched a new 10-night Borneo itinerary sailing from Singapore that visits destinations such as Kuching, Bintulu for jungle trekking, Miri for a visit to Niah National Park (noted for impressive caves and waterfalls) or for sunbathing on Luak Bay, and Pulau Tiga for snorkelling or diving. The cruise also visits Brunei's grand mosque and Kampong Ayer's centuries-old stilt village before finishing in Kota Kinabalu, where land sightseeing could include the Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre and chances to see sun bears and proboscis monkeys in the lowland rainforest.

Crystal Yacht Expedition Cruises has announced the inaugural season of itineraries for its newest ship Crystal Endeavor between August 2020 and January 2021. The luxury yacht will sail voyages of 12 to 22 days in regions such as Japan, the Russian Far East, New Zealand, Australia and Antarctica. Among the offerings is a 14-day cruise between Sydney and Christchurch departing November 14, 2020 whose highlight is six days spent exploring wild Tasmania by Zodiac and helicopter, as well as visits to Fjordland National Park and Stewart Island in New Zealand.
