GLOBAL ROAMING

Ponant has released its 63 luxury cruises and expedition voyages between April and October 2020, which include a return of classic voyages in destinations such as Australia's ancient Kimberley coastline, Canada's Baffin Bay and the Adriatic coastline, as well as 27 new itineraries. Among the new offerings is a Treasures of the Black Sea voyage and a Sea of Okhotsk cruise to the Russian Far East, Eastern Siberia and the Aleutian Islands, operated in partnership with National Geographic Expeditions. Not all cruises are active: you can also visit Japanese gardens, French vineyards and ancient Mediterranean ruins.

CARIBBEAN QUEENS

SeaDream Yacht Club has a season of sailings in the Caribbean spring in 2021 on both its 56-cabin motor-cruisers, SeaDream I and SeaDream II. It features a combination of popular ports and more secluded destinations accessible only to small ships, including lesser-known ports of call such as Saba, Norman Island, Jost van Dyke and Anegada, the only coral island in the British Virgin Islands. The cruises sail between January and April 2021, each featuring the company's signature Champagne and Caviar Splash served in the surf and followed by a beach barbecue.

GREEK GIFT

Viking Cruises has announced a new 11-day Greek Odyssey ocean cruise in the Aegean Sea aboard the 930-guest Viking Sea. Sailing round-trip from Athens from January 2021, the new itinerary features three new ports of call for Viking – Volos, Thessaloniki and Nafplion, the first capital of independent Greece and one of the country's most scenic harbours. Excursion options from Volos include the medieval monasteries of Meteora and home of ancient Greek gods Mount Olympus. The cruise also calls at Kusadasi near the ancient ruined city of Ephesus, marking the company's return to Turkey.

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD

Silversea Cruises has announced a new culinary enrichment program called SALT, an acronym of Sea and Land Taste, which will be inaugurated with the launch of Silver Moon in August 2020. Enrichment programs ashore will include the likes of market trips, winery visits, restaurant dining experiences, and food and wine tastings. There will also be ship-based events such as food lectures, cooking classes and demonstrations from local guest chefs. A dedicated SALT Lab will help passengers explore culinary cultures, while a new SALT restaurant will serve the regional cuisine of the cruise destinations.
