KIMBERLEY EXPLORED

Silversea celebrates its 10th year of expedition cruising in 2019 with cruises that explore more than 900 destinations, which it says is more than any other cruise line. Among them is a return to the Kimberley coast on immersive journeys that take in King George Falls by Zodiac, Aboriginal rock art dating back more than 50,000 years, and wildlife such as saltwater crocodiles and rare bird species. The cruises between Darwin and Broome (or the reverse) also visits the Buccaneer Archipelago, Hunter River, Wyndham and Saumlaki in Indonesia.

POPPING THE CORK

Oceania Cruises, known for its upmarket culinary offerings, has unveiled a new "Dom Perignon Experience" at specialty restaurant La Reserve, available now on its ships Riviera and Marina. The experience, limited to 24 guests at a time, pairs a six-course meal with a different expression and vintage of Dom Perignon champagnes. Guests dine on scallops with roasted pineapple, Brittany blue lobster in yellow-curry broth, and a black truffle risotto with aged parmesan, before a main of seared wagyu beef. A French cheese plate and sakura-tea ice-cream round off the decadent meal.

IN THE GAME

Crystal Cruises has a golf-themed cruise in southern Europe this year, departing Lisbon on August 12, 2019, on Crystal Serenity. The cruise visits Cadiz – gateway for Seville excursions, but a worthy destination in itself – and Gibraltar, and overnights in Ibiza, Barcelona, St-Tropez and Monte Carlo to allow for thorough (and evening) exploration. The 11-night cruise includes "Experiences of Discovery" with a PGA instructor to work on guests' golf game, a golf celebrity to discuss their experiences on the PGA tour, and the chance to tee off at world-famous courses in ports of call.
