If you're going to be stuck in a middle seat on a long-haul flight to LAX over the next few months, one hotel hopes to alleviate some of your suffering.

The Shore Hotel - a beachfront property overlooking Santa Monica's famous promenade on the Pacific coast - is offering a free room upgrade to those who can prove they've been stuck in the middle seat during their flight to Los Angeles.

The upgrade will give you an Ocean View room which offers unparalleled views of the Pacific.

Situated on Ocean Avenue, the room will overlook Santa Monica's famous boardwalk and the Pacific Coast Highway as it stretches down the coast towards Malibu, as well as offering front row seats to the Pacific's spectacular sunsets.

The hotel is in walking distance of downtown Santa Monica, which contains some of the best shopping, restaurants, galleries and farmers markets in Los Angeles.

In order to be eligible for the upgrade, you have to book a room before you land, and you have to show evidence that you spent your flight wedged in between two people in economy class.

The upgrade is subject to availability and is normally valued at $US90 ($A119). Rooms at the Shore Hotel cost from $US389 per night.

The Middle Seat Flyer deal is valid from March 1 - May 26, 2017. See http://www.shorehotel.com
