MY HUSBAND AND I ARE TRAVELLING TO HAWAII IN DECEMBER WITH OUR FOUR ADULT CHILDREN. WE WILL SPEND A WEEK ON THE BIG ISLAND AND ANOTHER WEEK ON A OAHU. I'D LIKE TO FIND A MORE TRADITIONAL HAWAIIAN HOLIDAY HOUSE TO RENT IN AN AREA THAT WILL MAKE A GOOD BASE FOR DAY TRIPS BUT ALSO PROVIDE SOME NIGHTLIFE IF WE WANT TO GO OUT FOR DINNER. WE ARE KEEN TO BE NEAR A BEACH. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

You're in a holiday sweet spot here. Hawaii has thousands of vacation homes for rent and they come in all sizes, some with swimming pools and lush tropical gardens. Prices for what you're looking for vary from about $300 to over $2000 a night and without knowing how many bedrooms you're after and how much you want to spend a night it's difficult to suggest any particular property but you'll find plenty of choice on the websites of HomeAway (homeaway.com.au), Holiday Lettings (holidaylettings.co.uk), Vacation Home Rentals (vacationhomerentals.com) and Go Hawaii (gohawaii.com) and Airbnb (airbnb.com.au). These websites feature reviews from guests who have paid and stayed, an invaluable guide.
