I HAVE 10 DAYS IN SCOTLAND, WHAT SHOULD BE ON MY MUST-SEE LIST? I PREFER ARCHITECTURE OVER LANDSCAPE AND I DON'T LIKE WHISKY. A. DOWNEY, GEELONG VIC

While Edinburgh is an architectural delight, Glasgow has some outstanding works from the Victorian era. Charles Rennie Mackintosh is the local hero of the profession, famous for his works from the Arts and Crafts movement, including Glasgow School of Art and the Willow Tearooms. Aberdeen is known as the Granite City for its legacy of noble stone buildings. Castles are to Scotland what neon is to Las Vegas. Many lie as picture-perfect ruins, such as Dunottar Castle poised above the sea at Stonehaven. At the other end of the scale, Dunrobin Castle looks like a French chateau straight out of the Loire Valley. Kilchure Castle in Argyll, on the shores of Loch Awe, was once a Campbell stronghold, while Floors Castle in the Scottish Borders is the largest inhabited castle in Scotland.
