WE ARE FLYING FROM HO CHI MINH CITY TO MELBOURNE WITH JETSTAR ASIA WITH AN EIGHT-HOUR STOPOVER IN SINGAPORE AND WISH TO LOOK AROUND THE CITY. DO WE COLLECT OUR BAGS AND RECHECK THEM IN FOR THE FLIGHT HOME OR STORE AT THE AIRPORT AND COLLECT WHEN WE RETURN TO THE AIRPORT BEFORE FLIGHT TIME? BEST WAY TO SEE THE SIGHTS? B. STUBBS, HOBART

Jetstar usually does not transfer baggage from one of their flights to another but there are exceptions and one is where both international flights were bought on the same booking. If that's the case with your booking then you should be able to check in your bags at Ho Chi Minh City and not see them again until you arrive in Melbourne. If not you'll have to collect your bags when you arrive in Singapore, and head for Jetstar Asia's early check-in desks, open daily from 6am to 9pm.

Changi Airport operates free city tours and they would be ideal for you, provided you do not have to collect your bags and re-check in. When you arrive at Changi Airport, stay in the transit area and find the Free Singapore Tour booth. There are two 2½-hour tours to choose from, a Heritage Tour which runs four times daily and the City Sights Tour which runs twice daily. You will need to present your passport and boarding pass for the next flight.

If you want something longer for your stopover you could consider a tour with Viator (viator.com). However Changi Airport is a great place to fill in time with plenty of options for relaxation as well as entertainment including a movie theatre, gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, shower and spa services and a wellness oasis with massages and a Fish Spa. One of the free city tours plus time exploring the airport would easily fill in your stopover.
