MY BEST HOLIDAY

was on one of my regular visits to a fabulous health retreat in Thailand. As much as I love my family and my friends, taking time out for myself to recharge is both a luxury and a necessity. A retreat is the perfect way to do this. I also loved my time in St Tropez. I love the South of France – it's so me and I feel like I just fit there.

THE BEST HOTEL I'VE STAYED IN

is The Shangri-La Paris. The views of the Eiffel Tower are amazing, it has incredible restaurants, and it's in central Paris – what more could a girl ask for?

I ALWAYS TAKE

lots of photos. Both for my own memories and also for the ability to share (via social media) with the people that you may not have been able to take with you. I also always travel with an empty suitcase. I do all of my shopping overseas, so I go with little and come back with a lot.

THE INGREDIENTS FOR A PERFECT HOLIDAY INCLUDE

someone you love, in somewhere you love and no mobile coverage.

THE BEST PIECE OF TRAVEL ADVICE

is to not let things get to you. Travel tends to result in the unexpected, so be prepared to roll with it. The only thing you're guaranteed to have control over is your own behaviour, so handle mishaps, delays, or any unexpected situations with humour and grace.

MY WORST EXPERIENCE ON HOLIDAY

is probably only long plane delays – I've been pretty lucky. Yes, they caused a few logistical problems and missed connections, which resulted in what felt like the longest transit in history, but you just have to roll with it. When life gives you lemons, make a gin and tonic – preferably in the first class lounge.

MY BIGGEST PACKING MISTAKE

is, as mentioned, I don't actually pack a lot, but once I overpacked before I left Melbourne and it wreaked havoc when I tried to bring my shopping home. I learned my lesson, which is why I now travel with a mostly empty suitcase.

NEXT ON MY LIST

Is a trip to the States with my boys. Having spent so much time travelling around Europe, I'd love to explore the US now.

'Real Housewives of Melbourne' star Pettifleur Berenger's book 'Switch the Bitch' is out now.
