If I'm cruising only in Australian waters, do i still need travel insurance?

… according to Adam Armstrong, managing director, Royal Caribbean International, Australia and New Zealand.

"Short answer – yes. With all the spontaneity and fun that comes with travel, there also comes the chance of a disruption you never planned for. That's why we strongly recommend our guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance before they travel – even on domestic cruises – so they're covered as far as possible, from the moment they leave the house to when they return. One reason travel insurance is so important is that, while Royal Caribbean's onboard medical facilities are equipped with top-notch equipment and highly trained crew to give the highest standard of care possible, charges are not covered by private health insurance policies or by Australian Medicare – something that guests might not realise when sailing on domestic cruises. With the right travel insurance, you're also covered for other unforeseeable mishaps – like cancelled flights or emergencies – that may cause you to miss your cruise."
