World's best hotels 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards: Gili Lankanfushi Maldives world's best hotel

TripAdvisor has named Gili Lankanfushi Maldives the best hotel in the world for 2015.
The exclusive retreat was name the third best hotel in the world in last years' TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Top Hotel Awards, behind the 2014 winner the Grand Hotel Kronenhof, Pontresina, Switzerland (click for our review) and The Upper House, Hong Kong, China.
One night at this 45-room resort will costs guests at least $A1900. For that price guests can expect uninterrupted ocean views, a butler service, free WiFi and robes. But there is one rule – "no news, no shoes" - that's the hotels' philosophy and they take it seriously.
Guests who have stayed at the resort have noted the exceptional service, stunning views and quality of food as factors which made their stay at Gili Lankanfushi Maldives magical. The resort has received a five out of five TripAdvisor rating.
"A perfect vacation in every sense of the word," wrote dajani_deema, who stayed at the resort this month, on the resort's TripAdvisor page.
"Apart from the beautiful large villas and stunning ocean views and beyond excellent food, what I love most about this resort is the staff. Every single staff member is helpful, courteous and eager to please," wrote mumandbaby, who stayed at the resort in December 2014.
"Fantastic hotel fantastic people working there... No news, no shoes concept fantastic.... This hotel is a pearl... If you are looking for down to earth luxury atmosphere this is the place to go ... So beautiful and amazing food," wrote Katrinelouis who also stayed at the resort in December 2014.
Taking out the top five spots in this year's Best Hotel in the World ranking were runner-up Nayara Hotel, Spa & Gardens in Costa Rica, Shinta Mani Club Siem Reap in Cambodia, Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace in Budapest, Hungary and the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco, Peru.
The 13th annual award also named Australia's best hotel – the Xanadu Holiday Resort in Main Beach, Queensland, which was noted for its modern and contemporary facilities. It was also ranked No.3 in the best family hotel category in both Australia and the South Pacific.
The Queensland beach-front resort knocked Emirates-owned Wolgan Valley Resort in NSW's Blue Mountains, named Best Hotel in Australia in 2014, from the top spot to second place.
Runner-up Wolgan Valley is a conservation-conscious spa resort with 40 luxury suites. The resort has its own decks and pools, and is located in a bush setting.
In third spot is the Qualia Resort, Hamilton Island, Queensland. The luxury resort on the Great Barrier Reef was named Best in the World and Best Resort in the Oceania region in the 2012 Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards.
Other Australian hotels taking out the top spots included Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort in Cairns, the trendy 1888 Hotel in Sydney (click for our review), Silky Oaks Lodge, Mossman, Queensland and the Park Hyatt, Sydney.
Hotels in Queensland and New South Wales made up the entirety of year's top 10 list with Victoria notably absent after Oaks on William, Melbourne, Victoria, lost its hold on 9th spot.

According to TripAdvisor, the winners of the 13th Travellers' Choice Awards were determined based on millions of reviews and opinions of site users worldwide collected over a 12-month period. This year the awards showcased more than 8151 winning properties worldwide, covering eight regions around the globe.
