WE ARE PLANNING A TRIP TO SPAIN AND MOROCCO NEXT YEAR WITH THEMES AROUND FOOD, HISTORY AND CULTURE. WE ARE THINKING OF MADRID, BARCELONA, SAN SEBASTIAN, AND SEVILLE.

CAN WE THEN TAKE THE TRAIN FROM SPAIN TO MOROCCO? WHAT CITIES AND ATTRACTIONS DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR MOROCCO?V. CHONG, EPPING NSW

You could also add Granada, home of the wonderful Alhambra, to your list, and perhaps the villages of Andalusia, but you're certainly hitting the highlights. You can take a ferry from Spain to Morocco, there are several different routes but the best option is probably going to be the ferry between Tarifa and Tangier. There are several sailings daily and the crossing takes only about one hour. You can find more information and make a booking on the Direct Ferries website, directferries.com.au.

In Morocco the main attractions are the cities of Fes, Meknes and Marrakesh and the kasbahs, palmeries and dunes of the Sahara on the south side of the Atlas Mountains. You need 10 days absolute minimum and you'd be well advised to take a guided tour.

There are many options for touring Morocco, from personalised tours in a luxury vehicle with a driver/guide such as the excellent tours run by Mark Willenbrock, madaboutmorocco.com, to group trips with operators such as Bunnik Tours, bunniktours.com.au, and Peregrine Adventures, peregrineadventures.com.
