The Friday before Christmas is not a chill day at the airport. But this year, if you are flying on Alaska Airlines, you might give yourself a break by putting on a ridiculous holiday jumper.

That's because the Pacific Northwest-based airline is offering travellers flying on December 20, "National Ugly Sweater Day," priority boarding.

Even if you're a total Scrooge, it might be worth it to dress up if you want some of that sweet, sweet overhead compartment space to alleviate your pain during one of the year's busiest travel days.

Sweaters aren't the only way Alaska is trying to make something very un-fun fun.

"Alaska Lounges will feature holiday-inspired beverages and cocktails, including snowflake sprinkled lattes and peppermint mochas, along with a special hot toddy cocktail available on National Ugly Sweater Day," the company said in a press release.

Sure, it might be humiliating, but that hot toddy will help you forget that you look ridiculous as you walk up the centre aisle without shoving anyone and stow your carry-on right over your seat.
