Dubai's newest mega-resort Atlantis The Royal will feature the world's first Nobu beach club and renowned chef Heston Blumenthal's debut bar when it launches in 2023.

The property used "daring" construction techniques to pull off its Jenga-like stacked modernist design, built at a cost of $1.6 billion over six years. It is located on Dubai's artificial, palm tree-shaped island "The Palm".

New footage highlights the skyline-altering scale of the six-tower structure and its many outdoor spaces, replete with private infinity pools and a rooftop entertainment precinct called Cloud 22.

At 11.5 metres tall and consisting of 5.5 tonnes of stainless steel, the artwork Droplets is the focal piece of the lobby.

The competition-winning design of New York-based architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) reimagined the 'iconic tower' brief that created building gaps akin to the grand arches of Roman aqueducts that could become outdoor courts.

"The architecture sets this up really strongly with its vertical piling up of outdoor experiences in the pools and outside spaces," said James von Klemperer, KPF president.

The row of towers are joined by a 1350 metre bridge that had to be lifted into place slowly using hydraulic jacks, in a complex process that took 10 hours and the use of specialty equipment.

The individual towers meet in the middle at a 90-metre sky bridge on the 22nd floor, overlooking the Arabian Sea.

"One of the most memorable moments for me during the construction was when a 90-metre-long chunk of the building that spans between the two halves of the structure was hoisted up and put in place," said von Klemperer. "This was an amazingly daring feat of engineering."

Guests of the resort's upper-tier 44 suites or penthouse accommodations will each have access to their own private infinity pool, and personal butler service. Butler perks include unpacking services, clothes pressing, access to a mini-pillow menu, and organising exclusive experiences at the resort.

This sky-high Cloud 22 features an infinity pool, luxury cabanas with private pools, a swim-up bar and DJ booth.

The resort will feature 17 restaurants and bars, including celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal's first cocktail bar, Resonance, featuring a 6.5 metre high jellyfish aquarium. The venue will showcase complex cocktails and food with a side of "purposeful theatre", according to the venue's description.

Blumenthal will also oversee a restaurant, Dinner, alongside restaurants from other global culinary icons including Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio, Iranian-American celebrity chef Ariana Bundy, Costas Spiliadis of Mediterranean seafood chain empire estiatorio Milos, and Spanish Michelin-starred chef Jose Andres.

Ahead of its opening, Atlantis The Royal is set to host a "grand reveal" event in the tradition of neighbouring Atlantis The Palm's star-studded multi-million-dollar 2008 launch, which saw hundreds of celebrity guests walk the red carpet, among them Robert DeNiro, Gerard Butler, Kylie Minogue and Priyanka Chopra. Its launch fireworks display was so large organisers claimed it was "visible from space".

Travellers were given another resort teaser last week with the launch of a new music video by Dutch dance sensation DJ Tiësto, showcasing some of the more fantastical aspects of the property, including a giant jellyfish tank and synchronised water fountain display. The Grammy Award-winner partnered with Atlantis The Royal for the '10:35' film clip, which features Canadian singer Tate McRae.

Tim Kelly, managing director of Atlantis Dubai, described the upcoming opening event for Atlantis The Royal as a "once or twice in a decade" launch event.

"As these new images demonstrate, this is a resort like no other and the building itself will become an instantly recognisable icon of the Dubai skyline," said Kelly.

"We are excited to begin welcoming guests next year and treat them to an experience they'll never forget."
