Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2021 winners announced: Here are this year's funniest wildlife photos

Take a look at a selection of this year's finalists in the photo gallery above.

Need a bit of a cheering up? Well it's that time of year again when the funniest wildlife photos are announced, and what looks like a particularly painful image has taken out the overall title.

Entitled, appropriately "Ouch", Ken Jensen's photo of a golden silk monkey was captured on the bridge that runs over the river Xun in the Lonsheng Gorge, Yunnan.

The male monkey was actually showing a sign of aggression as he sat on one of the supporting wires, but Jensen's image makes it look like he is pretty uncomfortable.

The picture was taken on a family holiday in China back in 2016, and Jensen says he is delighted to beat 7000 other entries for the overall title.

"I was absolutely overwhelmed to learn that my entry had won, especially when there were quite a number of wonderful photos entered," said the amateur photographer from Blackburn, UK.

"The publicity that my image has received over the last few months has been incredible, it is such a great feeling to know that one's image is making people smile globally as well as helping to support some fantastically worthwhile conservation causes."

Jensen wins a safari in the Masai Mara, Kenya, as well as a trophy.

John Speirs won the public vote for his image of a pigeon with a leaf on its face.

"I first heard of the awards about three years ago, then a friend encouraged me to enter my pigeon shot as they thought it was rather funny … it seems they were right," said Speirs from Oban, Scotland.

John Speir's pigeon won the public vote.

John Speir's 'Guess summer's over' pigeon won People's Choice award.

The video winner was Rahul Lakhmani's "Hugging Best Friend After Lockdown" which sees two white-throated kingfishers collide.

The Comedy Awards were founded in 2015 by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam as a way to highlight wildlife conservation.
