CRUISES COMBINED

Silversea Cruises is offering guests the opportunity to combine two or more European voyages into one value-priced experience in 2020. Departing between March and October 2020 and spanning between 14 and 36 nights, the "Combination Cruises" sail to destinations throughout the Mediterranean, northern Europe, the British Isles and beyond on five Silversea ships, including Silver Moon, set to launch in August 2020. Among the combinations is a 22-day expedition cruise from Lisbon to Dublin, a 20-day cruise from Barcelona to Venice, and a 24-day voyage from Athens to Dubai via the Greek islands, western Mediterranean and Red Sea.

EASTERN EUROPE

Evergreen Cruises & Tours has more in Eastern Europe in 2020. A new eight-day "Islands of Dalmatia" cruise along the Croatian coast will visit popular destinations such as Split, Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik, and can be paired with a land journey to create a 16-day in-depth experience of Croatia. The company is also offering a 20-day pairing that takes passengers through Russia on an "Imperial Charms" river cruise, coupled with an "Enchantment of Eastern Europe" river cruise from Budapest to Bucharest along the Danube that visits Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

NILE SMILE

Sanctuary Retreat's Egyptian river-cruise ship, Sanctuary Nile Adventurer, is undergoing a major refurbishment before returning to the water in September. The ship's 32 cabins and suites will have a new elegant, contemporary style and lighting, the restaurant will undergo a complete transformation, and a library will lead into a new spa. There will also be a new open-air gym. Sanctuary Nile Adventurer offers three-night Nile cruises downstream between Aswan and Luxor, four-night cruises upstream, or a seven-night cruise that combines both and visits destinations such as Karnak, Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo.

ON YER BIKE

If the Tour de France gets you in a cycling mood then active European travel company UTracks has an eight-day guided "Provence Bike and Boat" experience running weekly until late October 2019. Guests travel on a traditional-style barge between Avignon, Arles and Saint-Remy-de-Provence, with stops made at the Pont du Gard – Europe's best preserved Roman aqueduct – and the villages and landscapes made famous by Van Gogh. The tour includes all meals, twin-share accommodation with en suite facilities, use of a 27-speed bike and, for those not quite race-ready, an optional choice of electric bikes.

ADVENTUROUS PAIR

Seabourn Cruise Line has two new luxury expedition ships in the pipeline, which will be constructed to PC6 Polar Class standards, making them capable of summer and autumn operations amid the ice of Antarctica and the Arctic. The 264-passenger ships will carry two submarines, kayaks and 24 Zodiacs, and a 26-person expedition team of experts such as naturalists and scientists. The first ship, to be named Seabourn Venture, is scheduled for delivery in June 2021 while the second (as yet unnamed) ship is scheduled for May 2022.
