CELEBRITY SPOTTING

Celebrity Millennium has returned from a multi-million-dollar refurbishment as the first ship in Celebrity Cruises' biggest-ever fleet-wide modernisation that will see seven ships revitalised by 2023. Cabins and suites have been redesigned and hideaway The Retreat added for suite guests, featuring a lounge and private deck with hot tub, cabanas and loungers. Public areas including lounges, the spa and the casino have also been reimagined, and restaurants such as Oceanview Cafe and the Main Restaurant now have more seating. The ship has also added advanced Wi-Fi and new boutiques.

VIKING EXPANSION

Viking Ocean Cruises now has a sixth ship in its ocean fleet since Viking Jupiter sailed on its inaugural cruise between Athens and Rome last month. The ship will sail itineraries across the Mediterranean during its first season, before moving to Scandinavia for its official naming ceremony in Oslo on June 6. Viking Jupiter carries 930 passengers and is almost identical to its much-lauded sister ships such as Viking Star and Viking Sky. An impressive 10 further ships are expected to launch from 2021, bringing Viking's fleet to 16 ships by 2027.

PLAN AHEAD

Evergreen Cruises is upping its on-board fitness programs with the introduction of Activity Managers across its fleet of Star-Ship vessels in Europe. The managers join the ships next month and are responsible for shore excursions that include activities such as guided cycle tours, hiking and canoeing. They will also organise on-board fitness activities such as yoga and Pilates, aqua aerobics and "walk-a-mile" on the sun deck. Among Evergreen's cruises is a 15-day Splendours of Europe itinerary from Budapest to Amsterdam, and an eight-day Sensations of Lyon & Provence itinerary in southern France.
