Q
What are the advantages of travelling off-peak to Europe and is there a sweet spot on the calendar?

A
With hours of sunshine and warm, balmy evenings, summer in Europe undoubtedly has its appeal but travelling outside the peak season presents some major advantages. First, you won't find yourself battling through the crowds to see the sights. Even if you travel with an operator who grants you fast-track entry, once you're in the must-sees such as the Louvre, you'll find yourself with far less obstructed views of the Mona Lisa. Of course, there is also the financial benefit as you can enjoy huge savings on airfares by travelling outside the high season. Europe is a year-round destination and winter is truly magical with towns and cities decorated with fairy lights and permeated by the scent of mulled wine and baking gingerbread. October and November are great times to travel to Europe to secure the best airfares and witness the start of the festive season.
