Travel leaves its mark on Sam Moran - literally.
WHICH WAS YOUR BEST HOLIDAY?
A trip to Rome, Florence and Venice in Italy with my wife in 2007; it lived up to every expectation. There was a wonderful moment one night in Florence at the Piazza della Signoria - there was a guitarist and a singer singing Simon and Garfunkel songs under the moonlight.
AND THE BEST HOTEL YOU'VE STAYED IN?
I spent three days at the Westin in New Orleans in 2010. I thought I was staying in a standard room until the last night when I decided to try to open the door that I thought led to the next room, but which actually led to a massive suite with a bar. That would have been the best room I've stayed in, but I didn't even know it.
WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS TAKE WITH YOU?
My iPad. When I travel it's usually for work, so it's my lifeline to home and my family.
WHAT'S YOUR BEST PIECE OF TRAVEL ADVICE?
Pack light. I'm slowly getting better at whittling down. Every time I travel I leave another couple of items behind. I always carry an empty duffel bag in the front of my suitcase though, just in case.
AND YOUR WORST EXPERIENCE ON HOLIDAY?
My honeymoon! We went to Fiji in 2006 during the dry season and it poured with rain the entire time. The sun came out on the morning we were flying home, after 10 days of rain.
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO NEXT?
My left arm is full of tattooed passport stamps; my rule is that I have to get one in every new country I visit. Next up, I want a tattooed stamp from South America.
