Are you too old to be a backpacker?

Backpacking is, without doubt, one of life's truly great experiences. It's freedom, it's adventure, and it's fun. It's something absolutely everyone should try.

It's also, however, probably not something you can do for your entire life. Maybe it's the rustling of plastic bags in the middle of the night that will eventually drive your crazy. Or perhaps it will be the realisation that no one at your hostel was even born when your favourite music was released. Either way, there comes a time in pretty much every backpacker's travelling career when they have to admit… damn, I'm too old for this.

On this episode of Flight of Fancy, host Ben Groundwater is talking about backpacking, and more specifically, about the realisation that maybe, just maybe, you're getting a little bit past it.

To help identify these signs of being over the backpacking hill, Ben is joined by traveller.com.au writer Ute Junker, and Intrepid Travel's Tara Kennaway, two experienced travellers who might just be ready to admit that it's time to trade in the backpack straps for some more practical wheels.
