Flight of Fancy podcast: Extreme luxury - the most ridiculous ways to travel

If you consider breakfast in bed to be something of a luxury, we have news for you. In the world of uber-luxury, where it's all about outdoing the competition, breakfasts now come bigger and better. In the Maldives, for instance, you can enjoy a floating breakfast in the private pool of your villa – your butler delivers it on a weighted tray that doesn't tilt every time you lift your coffee cup.

In Thailand, there's a resort where you can literally enjoy breakfast among the treetops. You climb some stairs to a deck set into the tree canopy – and the fun bit is, your brekkie is delivered by a waiter who ziplines his way over to you.

There are plenty of other extreme examples of luxury on his episode of Flight of Fancy, where I chat to travel writers Georgia Rickard and Flip Byrnes about the places turning luxury into an Olympic-level sport. From underwater spas to first-class suites on airlines, we discover who's setting the standards for living large.
