Remember when we thought that the Airbus A380 – the biggest and most impressive passenger jet out there – was the future of air travel? Well, it turns out it's already the past.

The last A380 has taken off from the Airbus factory in Toulouse, and long-haul air travellers the world over are now having to face the prospect that in the foreseeable future, the A380 just won't be a thing any more. Sad, but true.

On this special episode of Flight of Fancy, host Ben Groundwater is joined by a large cohort of aviation experts and passionate advocates to take a deep-dive into the A380, an aircraft that is surely the favourite of any traveller out there. This episode will reveal everything you never knew about the big bird in the sky – what it's like to pilot one, what it's like to work on one, and how this whole project came about in the first place.

And of course it will seek to answer a crucial question that makes us sad just to consider it: are we seeing the last days of the A380? And if so, why?
