Flight of Fancy podcast: Plane nerds - why are we so obsessed with geeky plane stuff?

There comes a time in every traveller's life when they have to admit that they're a plane nerd. And plenty of people would be ready to put their hands up.

There's a childish fascination that travellers have with planes. The thrill of taking off, staring wide-eyed out the window. Spotting the A380s in the sky.

On this episode of Flight of Fancy, the Traveller.com.au podcast, I'm joined by fellow plane nerds Flip Byrnes and Michael Gebicki to talk about the best planes and the worst planes. They're going to talk about the fan favourites, the Boeing 747s and the A380s of the world. They're going to talk about their most memorable experiences in the air. And they're going to try to discover just what it is about these hulking lumps of metal that gets people so starry-eyed.

This episode is all about the miracle of flight. It's also about some travellers' weird obsession with their airborne mode of transport. Why do we love planes so much? What is it that these things do to us?
